(1993), 69, 447-8 LOC# xv018 @selbst.ftx CLA# COM# APP# MAT# ABS# Crystallite thickness distribution from the Raman longitudinal acoustic mode (LAM) in 2 linear polyethylenes is compared to that obtained from the 1-dimensional correlation function from small-angle x-ray scattering ( SAXS). Good agreement was found in the analysis of the distribution of crystallite thickness of the lower (32,000) weight-av. molecular weight sample and for the sample of molecular weight 120,000 the thickness distribution obtained from LAM was narrower than that from SAXS.
