TIT# On the determinatin of fiber tilt angles in fiber diffraction AUT# Stribeck, Norbert; SOU# Acta Cryst. (2009), A65, 46-47 LOC# xv117 CLA# COM# Theory APP# MAT# ABS# The common digital method that is used to eliminate the effect of fiber tilt from fiber diffraction patterns is based on a numerically unstable approximation given by Franklin and Gosling (Acta Cryst. (1953), 6, 678-685). Thus, the estimate is iteratively optimized in the so-called ``Fraser correction''. On the background of the fundamental work of Polanyi (Z. Physik (1921), 7, 149-180) the exact solution is presented in an equation that is numerically stable even at small tilt angle.
